European style in Mexico

While everybody around the world has only one topic, we are keeping calm. From the exciting Lucha Libre fight and the stunning views in Teotihuacan we headed North. Our next bus took us to Guanajuato.

Guanajuato is a small colonial city in the mountains of central Mexico. It was once a silver mining town. Nowadays it is well known for its colourful houses, graceful churches and lively atmosphere. And as Guanajuato is also a famous student city there is always something going on. The small alleys with many cafes, bars, art galleries and street food stalls reminded us a bit of an Italian city. Some people say it is the most European city Mexico has to offer.

We decided to stay in another Airbnb which was a great choice! It was a big house of an American who has been living there for more than 10 years. He gave us a lot of tips and we had a great talk about everything and anything with him and his daughter. This is still one of our favorite moments during travelling…meeting amazing people with great stories all around! There will be definitely a whole article about it! πŸ˜‰

European atmosphere in Mexico

The atmosphere of the city caught us straight away. We just strolled around, enjoyed the views and some great food. From the most famous viewpoint we got to see how colourful the city really is. In the city center we could experience different street artists almost all day long. And nearly everywhere they offered to take us on a walk at night through the city. But as it seemed really touristic we didn’t do it in the end. πŸ˜…

One downside of the city were the quite cold temperatures in the evenings. Also on the second day we were hit by a rainstorm. It rained the whole day and we were a bit shocked how much water was on the roads. Weird when there is no real water draining system. It was like a river pouring down the streets. 🌊 But as Christian had a little bit of a cold anyway we just enjoyed the warmth of the great Airbnb. 🏑

Alltogether it was a cool short trip into a small town with a great atmosphere. Just enjoying these little moments and not always big sightseeing spots is still worth it! 😊
