Lima’s bohemian district – Barranco

To be honest, Lima is not really one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but you will find little exceptions like: the artist’s quarter, Barranco.

Barranco means “ravine” and it is one of Lima’s 43 city districts known as the neighbourhood of artists, musicians and bohemians.

You can find many art gallerys, museums, peñas (small music clubs), bars, restaurants and amazing street art!

Puente de los Suspiros, Bridge of Sighs

One special place in Barranco is the “Puente de los Suspiros”, the Bridge of Sighs, which leads exactly over the ravine. The path from the bridge leads to a cliff overlooking the ocean.

Rumor has it that anyone who manages to cross the bridge while holding their breath and makes a wish, the wish will certainly come true!

Unfortuately we did not make it…😅

Nevertheless, we really enjoyed Barranco’s relaxed atmosphere and had one of the nice free walking tour around in the district.
