Fishing time!
After another quite sleepless night on the hard wooden floor, we started into the third day with a hike through the jungle. It was time to take our practice of fishing to use today! If we won’t catch anything the lunch would consist of hot water and bread. π
While walking through the overgrown jungle, Alex told us a lot about the flora and fauna. The trees there were really really huge! π΄π³

We arrived at a small clearing and we saw fishes everywhere! Jumping up and down on the river surface. Of course the sounds of otters weren’t far when there is so much fish to catch. ππ So it shouldn’t be too hard for us to catch our lunch as well. π
But as easy as it looked, the first few fishes were only caught by Alex. Finally Christian also got lucky and it was a really big one! What an experience to catch your own food and feel the power of a struggling fish on the hook. After that we found a great spot to catch more of these big ones. Now also Magda got some big fishes! Lunch for everybody was saved! πππ
Rainforest…
On the way back we got a taste of what “rainy season” in the jungle means…It was getting wet…Again! βπ¦ When it starts raining in the rainforest it doesn’t stop that quickly. So Alex decided to paddle back in this heavy rainstorm. We were lucky that it wasn’t that long to the cabin for lunch.
We really enjoyed our fresh caught fish with everybody and were hoping that the rain would stop as we had to get back to the first cabin this afternoon. And this trip would be 3 hours by canoe upstream… πΆ

We used our free time just to relax and enjoy the sounds of the jungle. The rain stopped but the clouds were still really dark. Alex decided that it was time to paddle back and not take a motorboat for the way…Unfortunately he made the wrong decision….As we started our trip the real rainstorm was hammering down on us! π¦π¦ We never saw so much rain and it didn’t stop the whole 3 hours on the canoe!
Finally and soaking wet we arrived at the cabin…Alex and our cook were of course really exhausted. For us it was the first time in the jungle shaking of coldness and not of fear of the crocodiles. We happily received the fish soup we got served for dinner. A speciality they really love around here. Yes, you wouldn’t serve something like this in Germany. π With the rain in our ears we had our last night in the jungle…
