With our visit to Machu Picchu our travelling in Peru came to an end. Exactly 7 weeks ago we started to get to know Peru, our first ever South American country. We got to experience so many different things: Culture, Nature, History…we are still totally overwhelmed by all the impressions. In the future we definitely will write a whole page about Peru and some special facts. 😁
About 2 weeks ago we had to make a big decision how we travel onward. Our plan was to get to Bolivia next. We wanted to see La Paz and of course the famous Salar de Uyuni (salt desert). But as you might have heard Chile and also Bolivia collapsed with political protests. We had hope for a long time that it will settle down…no indications so far. 😔
As we met a lot of other long-time travellers we got one suggestion quite often…COLOMBIA! Everybody told us only great things about it: “Medellin is so amazing”, “the people are so great”, “the weather is just fantastic” and of course also a lot of history there!
With no knowledge what Colombia offers for tourists we just looked for the cheapest flights and our next destination was chosen!
